In 2007, War Child Canada launched an advertising campaign with its Camp Okutta video. Watch the video.
(War Child Canada is a registered Canadian charity dedicated to providing
urgently needed humanitarian assistance to war-affected children around the world.
War Child Canada helps generate awareness, support and advocacy for children's
rights everywhere.
)
The blog Angry in the Great White North posted an article about the video
entitled Canadian kids
used as props and exposed to real danger in order to protest putting kids at risk.
At one point in the article, the blogger says: Someone ought to be asking
some serious questions about this.
Other bloggers, having read this article, contacted War Child Canada directly to ask about the making of the video. War Child Canada happily provided details about the safety measures used to make the video and about the financing of the video - the video was done entirely pro-bono by production houses. No charitable donations where used to make the video.
War Child Canada contacted Angry in the Great White North, who then provided an update to the original article.
Interestingly, the update article contains the statement
the video raised a lot of questions
- which just links back to the
author's original article.
