When sending us email, here are some things to keep in mind:
- Always have a subject line, and start that line with "CP213:
". That way we know what course you are talking about. All of us have to
deal with many courses.
- Include your full name and ID number - we can't always tell from the
email address who you are.
- Do Not email zip files. The Laurier email server puts
these emails into quarantine, and I generally don't see them for 24
hours if I see them at all. Just post your zip files to the appropriate
dropbox on MLS and let me know it's there. You can submit many zip files
to a dropbox and only the last one is graded.
- Do Not email screen shots where possible. Testing
results and console contents can be copied and pasted as text, so just
do that when you can.
- If you are asking "why won't my code work?", upload your complete
Eclipse project to a dropbox for us to retrieve. We usually need all
your code to figure out what the problem is. Do Not
email code snippets. Often the error is not where you think it is.
- Email the course instructor if your question is about:
- help understanding course concepts
- help with assignment questions
- dropping the course
- questions about what will be on the test or exams
- missing tests, sick notes, etc.
- anything else not covered above
- Email the lab instructors if your question is about:
- technical issues (e.g.installing Python)
- lab questions
- If you email more than one person, with the same question, Do
Not send multiple separate emails - copy the same email to
everyone, that way we know that we all have the same email and one of us
can reply appropriately.
- Be Polite.
