Synergistic Photonic Sensory Platform
Agency: OCE Period of Performance: 2009 - 2011 Is being performed at: Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, UofT The proposal addresses the design of a "universal gas sensor" - a multi-gas photonic sensory platform - one of the main elements of an Integrated Public Security Network. The platform is to be used for real-time monitoring of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear hazards, natural environmental conditions, and public infrastructure safety. Military and law enforcement personnel, firefighters, miners, divers, search and rescue teams, and nuclear power plant personnel would use the sensors as individual portable units or through synergetic sensory platforms. The sensors could be located stationary or on mobile platform vehicles (remote controlled and autonomous), and they will be connected with monitoring centers via wireless communication channels. |
